Book #22: That’s What She Said by Kimothy Joy

❤ Book #22 review from my 50 Books 2018 Challenge!

❤ You can read about my initial challenge progress, and check out all the books I’m reading this year here. I got off track, but I’m back at it now!

That’s What She Said

Wise Words from Influential Women, by Kimothy Joy

I’ve been a fan of Kimothy Joy’s on Instagram for a while now, and have always admired and respected her activist art and way with words. I was honored to include two of her illustrations in a HuffPost article I wrote last year.

I was so excited when she came out with this book, and couldn’t more highly recommend it to you!

This is a coffee book table everyone should have, for every stage of their feminist lives.

Get this beautiful gift book for yourself, your mom, your best friend, your mentor, and your girl boss.

As you can see from Kimothy’s Insta posts I’m sharing, she is so talented and there is so much passion, purpose, and love behind her work.

Reading this book helped me feel empowered, inspired, and not so alone in the ups and downs of life’s adventures.

Containing over 50 illustrations paired with quotes, and a concise biography for each diverse woman featured, That’s What She Said moved me and stirred my soul.

Kimothy included a wide variety of women from all over the world, and I appreciated hearing about women that I already adore (Malala, Amelia Earhart, Harriet Tubman, Ellen DeGeneres, Audre Lorde, Michelle Obama, and Oprah Winfrey to name a few), as well as other badass women that I definitely want to learn more about now (Sophie Scholl, Yayoi Kusama, Miles Franklin, Grace Hopper, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie… the list goes on)!

I keep this book out in my London flat at all times, and use it as a motivational booster whenever I need encouragement from my fellow feminists across time and the world.
